Our Company Story
Our Marine Foundation
Marine Rescue Technologies (MRT) was founded in 2003 in Sebastian, Florida, with a single product, one visionary founder, and a mission to improve offshore safety.
The story of MRT began when our founder, Michael Ritchie, connected with David Marshall, the inventor of the first-ever Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). David created the PLB after the tragic loss of his son at sea and sought to bring his life-saving technology to the U.S. and Canadian markets. This partnership became the foundation of MRT, which initially focused on distributing PLBs.
Michael quickly realized that a single device could not solve the complex challenges of man overboard (MOB) recovery. As MRT grew, so did our understanding of MOB risks and the need for comprehensive solutions. Over the years, we expanded our product line to become a leading distributor of world-class marine safety and rescue equipment, specializing in locating and retrieving people from the water.
Today, MRT offers a full range of premium MOB solutions, including alerts, alarms, locators, and retrieval systems, designed to meet the highest industry standards. Our products are trusted for their reliability, featuring SOLAS-approved, IMO-compliant, and ATEX-certified systems to meet the rigorous demands of the commercial offshore industry.
At MRT, we deliver more than products—we provide peace of mind, security, and solutions designed to save lives. By tailoring our recommendations to the unique risks and objectives of our clients, we help organizations reduce the likelihood of serious MOB incidents. With our systems in place and employees properly trained, the risk of a severe MOB event is significantly minimized.
As an ISO 9001:2015 Certified organization with over 20 years of experience, MRT is committed to advancing marine safety standards and delivering reliable solutions for a safer world. Our mission is to ensure that no one is left behind at sea.
AutoCrew Management System (ACMS)
Since 2003, MRT has been at the forefront of developing personnel accountability and muster systems for some of the world’s most secure sites, both onshore and offshore. The AutoCrew Management System (ACMS) was designed as a holistic efficiency system, introducing multiple first-ever features to the automatic POB/Muster market. These innovations include bunk management, multilingual interfaces, certificate tracking, and permit-to-work (PTW) functionality, setting a new standard for personnel safety and operational efficiency.
In response to customer feedback and evolving industry needs, MRT developed the ACMS with a user-focused approach. Through site surveys and interviews with offshore workers, we identified and implemented clear, practical solutions that address the limitations of existing systems. The ACMS is web-based, built with non-proprietary hardware and open architecture for true interoperability. This ensures the system is easy to install, use, and support while offering seamless integration with other site safety systems.
Whether for industrial sites or offshore platforms, the AutoCrew Management System provides a reliable, scalable, and innovative way to manage personnel safety, streamline operations, and enhance accountability.
